Semi-Update

Since it’s winter, I’ve been snowboaring every chance I got. That means once per month for me. My other friends go to snowboarding trips way more often (read: every freakin’ week). Good thing I still have the heel-side leafing skill I learned from last year. It would be very painful (and demoralizing) if I had to start from the beginning again.

Three trips this year and now I can do the toe-side thing. Hah. I think I even managed to do some weird turning thing.

Anyhoo, I can’t be too happy about it, coz I got sick. Been out of it for four days and I only just got back to work this morning. Sigh. Anyway, I don’t have anything more to blog about so I’ll just leave it at this.

UConn’s been winning and winning and winning. Can’t wait for March Madness.

Why oh why is LJ still not signing with anyone?

Is she still undecided or did I just miss some pretty important news when I was sick? Gaaaah.

Because I can’t find anything to Scrooge about and I’m not bitter about anything today, I might as well join in the fray.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone 🙂

Day 262 : Weeeeeee!

It’s finally snowboarding season. Enjoyed the trip to Ishiuchimaruyama in Niigata-ken. I can’t wait for the next one.

At dahil diyan, me sa re-post ako ng past kwento from one of the snobo trips last year:

“Istoryang Tebukuro”

Why Why Why

Why do you think I let you get away
With all the things you say to me?
Could it be I like you
It’s so shameful of me, I like you

—————–

Yesterday, me and two of my friends were chatting up a storm while on board the train home. We had just finished gobbling up some food at Kingdom of Teppan in Machida.

I forgot how the convo got to this but anyway, we suddenly found ourselves asking whether there should be a reason why you like (or love) somebody (I didn’t start it, I swear!) or not. A flurry of answers came in the discussion that ensued. And of course, I came up with mine.

“You don’t need to actually have a certain reason,” I shrugged. “You just do, I mean, you just like a person. That’s it.”

“But there’s got to be something,” chimed one of the girls.

“…like maybe he’s got a sense of humor or whatever,” J popped in.

“But what if something drastic happens to the person,” I asked. “And then he gets depressed et cetera, then he loses the reason why you like him in the first place.” I raised a brow and continued to chase through the flurry of thoughts running inside my head. “But then again, there are levels to the like state, ya know. And those levels are connected to certain reasons, i.e. you like a good basketball player because he/she has a killer jumpshot. But then, that *like* is sort of shallow, like when you like this actor or this singer or whatever. Ugh, but then again, who am I to judge which is shallow or not?”

“I dunno, but can’t you accept the fact that some people do like other people because they look good, because they smell good?” added another voice in the group. I think it was P.

“Or heaven forbid, because they have great hair?” I laughed. “Nah, I’m not generalizing. And I probably don’t cover the whole spectrum of the question anyway.” A pause reigned over us. “And it’s probably not fair to say that you don’t need no reason to like anyone but …” I paused again. “…I guess there comes a time when, yes, there are really reasons, but you can’t just pinpoint exactly what those are.”

“So, you cannot identify the thing that made you like the person so you just say, no, there’s no reason, you just do?”

“Maybe,” I shrugged again. It is a mannerism ya know. “Or maybe there’s just too many reasons and you cannot pick one reason above all the others.” I continued. “Or maybe I’m too lazy to actually think about it and pick a reason.”

“We’re leaning on the last option, if you must know.”

“Beeyotch,” I laughed. “Yeah, I know, I know, too lazy, sue me. Whatever.”

“Maybe you just like the person as a whole,” suggested P.

“Or maybe I just like the notion of liking someone and not knowing what on earth the reason is,” I grinned. “Makes the story more exciting eh? Aah, the stuff of rom-coms.” And then a thought pops into my mind, “or maybe, it’s just one of the things in Munchhausen’s Trilemma, ya know, you like someone because you like someone…”

“Eeeww, nerd alert!”

“Shut up,” I whacked P and blurted out laughing. We laughed for quite awhile and then totally forgot what we were arguing about.

“Okay, here’s a thought-provoking question for you, P,” I asked with my poker face on.

“Shoot.”

“It’s bloody cold outside,” I feigned exhasperation. “Are we taking a cab or walking?!”

—————–

You’re not right in the head and nor am I
And this why
This is why I like you, I like you, I like you

—————–

Half of this is true, half of this is fiction, and half is pure B.S. Now if you know Venn’s Diagram, you can visualize what I just said (and no, it ain’t 3/2 people). It’s just a matter of perspective and point of view most of the time.

No. 1 UConn totally decimated No. 2 North Carolina in a very lopsided game, the score being 88-58. Aside from the points, UConn also ruled the boards with 48, 19 of which are offensive. North Carolina, one of the better rebounding teams year after year after year, just got 28 boards (9 offensive).

Senior guard Renee Montgomery led the pack with 21 points on 8-17, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. All-American Maya Moore took the backseat with 19 points and 12 rebounds (6 offensive) after pouring 40 points on the Syracuse Orange during their previous game. Tina Charles scored 17 and 12 (6 offensive). Kalana Greene had 15 and 3. Sophomore Lorin Dixon, who moved into the starting lineup following Caroline Doty’s ACL injury, 14 (5 of 5) points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds.

Italee Lucas scored 15 points to lead UNC, while Rashanda McCants added 13.

Last year, it was Mel Thomas who tore her ACL in a game against the Syracuse Orange. This year, it’s Caroline Doty, UConn’s freshman guard.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)—Connecticut freshman guard Caroline Doty will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee in Saturday’s win over Syracuse.

A MRI exam showed that Doty tore the ACL, the school announced Sunday. It’s the same knee that was surgically repaired in September 2007.

Doty, who had 17 first-half points in the 107-53 win Saturday, went down while trying to grab a pass on a fast break just before intermission. She has started every game for the top-ranked Huskies and was averaging 8 points.

UConn takes on No. 2 North Carolina on Monday night in Chapel Hill.

Here’s one sure-fire way to prevent me from buying and/or updating my photography gear:

I will not buy another lense and/or a better camera body (damn you D40) until I feel like I deserve it/them.

In short, I need to be able to see a shot that would make me feel like dayum I’m awesome (wahahaha) or whatever. But then again, that rarely happens. So I think this plan is really great.

parang mga kiti-kiti na lang
na nalulunod sa sabaw
na pumalit yata sa ‘king utak
ang mga salita’t katagang
parte ng mga kwento’t daldal
na sa iyo ko lang kayang italak
kaya’t pasensiya ka na sa akin
kung wala man akong mapiga-piga
ni isang kapiranggot na patak
na di gaya noon na parang wala
na lang katapusan ang mga storya
at di ako matigil sa pagputak.

I just recently came back from a two-week vacay to my home country, the Philippines, and I’m still struggling to get my ass back in gear for work and life here in Japan. For 14 days, I gobbled down practically any Pinoy food that I could get my hands on. Matter of fact, the moment I got out of the NAIA Terminal 3 gate, I was facing two Jolly Hotdogs (from Jollibee) that the brats — er, siblings pala, bought before they went to the airport to pick me up.

My 2008 in Photographs

Well, seeing that I got myself into this very expensive hobby this year, I might as well chronicle 2008 with, well, photos.

where's my deluminator?

I was very very excited to finally start 2008 (if you must know, my 2007 was pure hell) that I got myself dragged to far far away Sea Paradise to watch the *meh* fireworks and get my ass frozen. We got stuck at Higashi-Kanagawa (for n loooooong hours) waiting for the first train. It was less than five degrees celsius. I am never going to do that again. Ever.

So anyhoo, let’s go take a look at what happened to my year ^_^ (warning, very long post ahead).
