Well, apparently, Geno will lead the US Women’s Basketball Team in the London 2012 OGs. [ Source ]
Geno Auriemma, fresh from a 6th NCAA Championship and 3rd unbeaten season with UConn, has been named Head Coach of the Olympic team that will compete in London. He succeeded former Seattle Storm Coach Ann Donovan.
He will be the first active college coach to take on the Olympic gig since Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer did in ’96.

People change.
Some of them mature over time, some grow more childish.
Some reorder their priorities, others get a brand new set.
Some people grow stronger, others get weaker as time passes by.
Some people get harder and more jaded, but there are those who finally get their chance to feel.
People change.
Some of them may be towards one direction, while others trudge towards another.
But still, people change.
And so do I.
—————————–
Took me this long to realize that I did change. I no longer get panicked over basketball news. I missed the Final Four — heck, even the Final Game. UConn won, btw. Geno won awards. Maya Moore swept this year’s POY awards. Tina Charles brought it on big time during the whole NCAA Tourney. I just knew all that from reading the recaps and not by listening to the game (which I did all the time these past few years). Sadly, I wasn’t that mad about March Madness anymore.
The Storm drafted Cal’s Ashley Walker. If she’s Camille Little 2.0, then I’m all up for it. The Storm needs a heck lot of front court talent IF LJ doesn’t sign with us and goes over to Phoenix instead. But anyway, I ain’t losing sleep over that. I’m not even that much excited about the opening in May. :p Let’s just wait and see what’ll happen once the season is underway, though. I might get my enthusiasm back.

Since it’s winter, I’ve been snowboaring every chance I got. That means once per month for me. My other friends go to snowboarding trips way more often (read: every freakin’ week). Good thing I still have the heel-side leafing skill I learned from last year. It would be very painful (and demoralizing) if I had to start from the beginning again.
Three trips this year and now I can do the toe-side thing. Hah. I think I even managed to do some weird turning thing.
Anyhoo, I can’t be too happy about it, coz I got sick. Been out of it for four days and I only just got back to work this morning. Sigh. Anyway, I don’t have anything more to blog about so I’ll just leave it at this.

UConn’s been winning and winning and winning. Can’t wait for March Madness.

Why oh why is LJ still not signing with anyone?
Is she still undecided or did I just miss some pretty important news when I was sick? Gaaaah.

It’s finally snowboarding season. Enjoyed the trip to Ishiuchimaruyama in Niigata-ken. I can’t wait for the next one.

At dahil diyan, me sa re-post ako ng past kwento from one of the snobo trips last year:
“Istoryang Tebukuro”

No. 1 UConn totally decimated No. 2 North Carolina in a very lopsided game, the score being 88-58. Aside from the points, UConn also ruled the boards with 48, 19 of which are offensive. North Carolina, one of the better rebounding teams year after year after year, just got 28 boards (9 offensive).
Senior guard Renee Montgomery led the pack with 21 points on 8-17, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. All-American Maya Moore took the backseat with 19 points and 12 rebounds (6 offensive) after pouring 40 points on the Syracuse Orange during their previous game. Tina Charles scored 17 and 12 (6 offensive). Kalana Greene had 15 and 3. Sophomore Lorin Dixon, who moved into the starting lineup following Caroline Doty’s ACL injury, 14 (5 of 5) points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds.
Italee Lucas scored 15 points to lead UNC, while Rashanda McCants added 13.

Last year, it was Mel Thomas who tore her ACL in a game against the Syracuse Orange. This year, it’s Caroline Doty, UConn’s freshman guard.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)—Connecticut freshman guard Caroline Doty will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee in Saturday’s win over Syracuse.
A MRI exam showed that Doty tore the ACL, the school announced Sunday. It’s the same knee that was surgically repaired in September 2007.
Doty, who had 17 first-half points in the 107-53 win Saturday, went down while trying to grab a pass on a fast break just before intermission. She has started every game for the top-ranked Huskies and was averaging 8 points.
UConn takes on No. 2 North Carolina on Monday night in Chapel Hill.

Well, seeing that I got myself into this very expensive hobby this year, I might as well chronicle 2008 with, well, photos.
I was very very excited to finally start 2008 (if you must know, my 2007 was pure hell) that I got myself dragged to far far away Sea Paradise to watch the *meh* fireworks and get my ass frozen. We got stuck at Higashi-Kanagawa (for n loooooong hours) waiting for the first train. It was less than five degrees celsius. I am never going to do that again. Ever.
So anyhoo, let’s go take a look at what happened to my year ^_^ (warning, very long post ahead).

The Houston Comets — winner of four WNBA trophies and one of the eight original franchises in the league — is no more.

Fans discuss and lament. This almost happened to my team a year ago. Thank God these women exist or else the Storm would have been dead (or stuck in Oklahoma where Kevin Durant and the rest of the Sonics are now). So, thank you, Force 10 Hoops.
PS — Aaww, I thought I forgot the sting of losing in the first round.

STORRS, Conn. (AP)—Renee Montgomery had a career-high 30 points and matched the Connecticut record with 13 assists to help the top-ranked Huskies rout No. 4 Oklahoma 106-78 on Sunday night.
Montgomery, who got the first double-double of her career, tied the assists record set by Laura Lishness in 1991 against Seton Hall.
Maya Moore added 27 points and 12 rebounds and Tina Charles had 18 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for UConn (5-0). Freshman Caroline Doty scored a career-high 18 points, going 6-for-6 from behind the 3-point line.
Danielle Robinson had 19 points and Ashley Paris added 17 points and 13 rebounds for Oklahoma (4-2). Courtney Paris had 14 points and 14 rebounds for her 98th straight double-double, extending her NCAA record.
It was the first time Oklahoma gave up over 100 points since losing to Connecticut, 102-80, in the NCAA regionals in 2000.
