I say, not bad. Put away the loss at Indy (which I completely didn’t wake up to coz I’m putting my health over basketball addiction nowadays), I think we’re on the right direction.

The team hasn’t still gelled that well but it’ll come in time.

・Tanisha Wright finally playing what she does best — awesome defense and not point-guarding. Now we can only hope PeeWee Johnson stays healthy to provide substantial help to Sue.

・Sue Bird — Bird, Bird, Bird, Biiiiiiiird is the word. Seriously, if ever she retires I would be really depressed. And lol at someone from Stormfans.org, if only we could clone Birdy and put Birdy1 at point guard and Birdy2 at shooting guard, that would be freaking awesome.

・I hope Swin stays healthy and finally free from the back and knee problems. Awesome defense against Augustus during the win over the Lynx btw.

・Lauren Jackson. ‘Nuff said. Thank you for staying in Seattle. ^__^

My happiness does not depend on whether the Storm wins at Sta(b)les Center today. I repeat, My happiness does not depend on whether the Storm wins at Sta(b)les Center today.

I was telling that to myself when I woke up this morning. And well, with that in mind, why am I so *ugh* freakin’ irritated and annoyed and owwww what the hell!

The story of the game is L.A.’s usually unreliable guards bringing it big time AND the Tanisha Wright (G SEA) that I was harping on about last season reappeared! Talk about those turnovers. Maaaaan, what a major choker. She better redeem herself in Game 2 or else…

On second thought, Sue might have just been sucessful as a one-woman-wrecking crew. Seriously. If not for those bloody turnovers and those breaks that we didn’t capitalize on, we coulda won this game.

But oh well, it’s over. I think we were down 17 at some point, then chipped away at the lead til we got it down to 6, and then the breaks went in favor of L.A. and then it was over. Bloody hell, the game was over.

Argh.

Get back to Key Arena, Stormies. And play better next time. And please, Brian Agler, sit Tanisha Wright when she’s fumbling passes and making sloppy plays. Srsly.

I’ve been on a funk (well, sort of) lately. I dunno why — can we just blame STRESS just like the old times? Work, work, work. Ugh. I haven’t been updating myself with the STORM, too. That’s almost blasphemous in my world. Tsk tsk tsk.

So, anyway, I still get to listen to games but without the proper attention that I used to bestow on my favorite team on earth. And it’s not helping that we’re sort of sucking on the road (thank goodness for the 9-1 Home record or else we’re toast). And it also sucks that the SpOrks are on top of the Western Conf (wait, lemme check … oh hell no, they still are on top boooo!). Oh well, at least we’re still above .500 and are sitting at 3rd.

The last game I listened to was against the New York Liberty this morning. LJ lit up for 33 points (wooohoooo LJ!) on 12-for-20 shooting, grabbed 5 boards, blocked 2 shots, and swiped one ball. Birdy also played awesomely. She scored a season-high 23 points and assisted 6 shots. Swin played another solid game, scoring 8 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Swoopes had 9 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds. Yo Griffith had 4 points, 7 boards, and 4 steals.

The Up-Sides:
– LJ’s offensive flow has returned.
– Team has more rebounds now.
– Sue — oh Sue, keep that killer offense going. Downright awesome.
– That killer pick-and-roll is just, well, a killer. Pick your poison – LJ or Sue? Tsk.

The Down-Side:
– OMG, the bench?! The bench is missing! (I didn’t concentrate enough on listening so I dunno if they brought some hustle on the court that’s not reflected on the score sheet though).

The Game:

Score: W 81 — 74

[22–14][29–24][15–11][18–22]

Player of the Game: F Lauren Jackson (12-20) 33 Pts, 7 Rebs, 0 Assists

Box Score

Recap

Others:

– The SpOrks lost wahahahaha. To Minny. Good on Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins, and company. Yay.

– We’re facing Minny next though. Uh oh. Haha. Oh well, go Storm!

– What the hell? No photos of the game on the Yahoo Sports gallery?! Weird.

Revenge Woohoo

SEATTLE @ SAN ANTONIO (May 24, 2008)

Score: 72 — 87 (Loss)

— I missed this one because I wasn’t able to go home from Aileen’s Welcome Party in Bubaigawara. Good for me, at least I was spared the stress.

SEATTLE vs SAN ANTONIO (May 30, 2008)

Score: 78 — 57 (Win)

Player of the Game: F/C Lauren Jackson, 28 points (10-16), 3 rebounds.

— I actually forgot about this game. Haha. I woke up around the second quarter and immediately tuned to the dotcom audio. They said there was gonna be a webcast but it turned out they were just pulling my leg. I hope they archive it, though. It was a pretty awesome game by LJ. 😀

STANDING: 4 — 1 0.800 (2nd West)

Seattle 16 13 25 13 67

OMG, I LOVE SWOOPES! The defense is just way awesome. LJ was ice cold in the first half — missing everything! The Storm couldn’t buy a single bucket and it looked like Chicago might win the game. And then Swoopes stole all those passes and the game just went into a different direction. Hell yeaaaaah!

One thing — wahaha, palpak pa rin ang bench! Imagine, with 2 minutes left, we were up 15 and then the starters went out, tapos the Sky cut the lead down to 6? My Gaaaaaad!

LJ’s stats look a little, I dunno, mortal. Come on, feel the rhythm, super-aussie! We gotta get you back to Superwoman status, ASAP!

Anyhoo, top performers for this game:

Bird – 13 pts, 7 asts
Cash – 13 pts, 8 rebs, 3 asts
Swoopes – 6 pts, 4 rebs, 2 asts, 3 steals
Griffith – 8 pts, 7 rebs
Jackson – 14 pts, 6 rebs

[LA] Candace Parker with 34, 12, and 8 asts.
[PHX] Cappie Pondexter with 32, 3, and 7 asts.

(2) DET 85 – 66 HOU.
[DET] Katie Smith with 21 and 3 dishes.

Waaaah — ang tagal mag-announce ng cuts. So anyway here’s my blah-blah-blah about the whole thing:

、ESURE-AS-HELL LOCKS 、E/p>

① Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird — ‘Nuff said. All hell will break loose if Seattle ever releases these two. Fresh off a successfull overseas season in Russia, LJ and Birdy should be back and ready in green before opening night.

② Swin Cash — She’s looking and playing great and is almost back to her pre-ACL days. I wasn’t really thrilled initially with the Storm signing her but I think Swin’s gonna be a big factor in days to come.

③ Sheryl Swoopes — I was initially awed when the Storm signed Swoopes. I mean, she is an All-Star, an Olympian, an All-Decade Team Member (wait — we had all those in Bird and Jackson). But Swoopes was also rumored to be retiring soon. And she’s got quite a number of minor injuries *every* game so far. But I think she’s also a great scoring threat and if she takes care of herself well enough (no major injuries please), she’s gonna be a huge part of the puzzle. Plus it doesn’t hurt to have a sort-of Assistant Coach in uniform.

④ Yolanda Griffith — Enough gas in the tank, I think. Without Janelle Burse (Jones Injury) this season, she’d have to be responsible for many minutes in the 5 spot. I’m not yet sure how Agler would rotate the players but with her, Swin, A.Rob, Kelly Santos, and of course LJ, our post is certainly not thin.

、EOF COURSE THEY’RE IN 、E/p>

① Katie Gearlds — KG might have been a bubble player for a while (I read about the “white on rice” thing that Agler told her several weeks ago) but judging from her performance in the Indiana Pre-Season Game, she’s definitely in.

② Ashley Robinson — Pretty solid on both ends of the court. Yo can certainly need a reliever like her for the 5 spot.

③ Shyra Ely — Huge improvement and great defense.

④ Kelly Santos — I’m not really familiar with her and I haven’t seen her play yet but I read some favorable feedback about her in SF.org so I guess she’s okay.

、EIN THE BUBBLE 、E/p>

① Tanisha Wright — Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get that she’s improved (heh) and whatever and her defense is good and her shot is good, too, but SHE IS NOT A POINT GUARD demmit! She’s prolly a decent SG/SF, at best.

② Kimberly Beck — Now, Beck is a Point Guard, albeit a traditional one (pass first, shoot second). There’s positive feedback about her all over sf.org and she’d be a solid back-up to Birdy. I hope Agler keeps her.

③ Daphanie Kennedy — Betty Lennox Jr., according to Scotts Game Report. Hahaha. Okay, we all know I’m not really partial to Betty. I think Kennedy’s out.

④ Kristen O’Neill — I’m not really sure. Is she competing with Gearlds for the same spot? She’s scrappy, she’s got great baller IQ, but with KG’s performance, it doesn’t look good for this UW stand-out. I wish Agler would keep her though.

⑤ Hodges Twins — I don’t even want to elaborate. They’re experienced but I’m not really comfortable with them in Storm uniforms and they haven’t shown any impact in the games. I hope Agler doesn’t stick with the vets and chuck these two out.

MY PICKS => Beck, one of the twins, and Wright (I knoooowwww … tssss … basta di siya back-up PG ah!) I want O’Neill in too, but I’d be very happy if Agler keeps at least one rookie. Come on, masyado na geriatric ang Storm!

basketball, golden week, sacramento monarchs, seattle storm, storm, WNBA

this is just an attempt to wade through the sabaw that’s currently occupying the space in my cranium. oic while my brain is vacationing somewhere.

it’s a very lazy saturday — start of the much awaited golden week, actually. no jap class because our rakista pasyonista lola sensei is off to god-only-knows-where and no tennis-slash-whatever thing because the weather got screwy. i don’t have any back-up plans. tssss.

i have nothing to do. and no one to talk to. well, scratch that out, there are people everywhere but i just wanna keep to myself for a while and mull over some thoughts (after-shock from last night, i guess).

alright, so i’m actually following a storm pre-season game in sacto now but there’s no audio and it’s really hard to get yourself into the game if you’re just watching the scoreboard and the play-by-play. plus birdy and lj aren’t yet around and *ugh* i’m just so lethargic this morning.

wait, omfg, why is sacto leading? grrr. we were on top just a few seconds ago.

i didn’t see swoopes in the line-up. she’s not playing, i guess. swin’s been in there a time or two. k.gearlds, come on, show us that smooth shot. yoyoyo griffith, cool, you just tied the frikkin’ game. now, i know that brian agler doesn’t care about winning just yet and he’s trying out combinations blah blah blah but wouldn’t it be nice to see a WIN this early? and yeah yeah yeah, i get that sue and lauren aren’t still around, as well as jb, but hey, a little enthusiasm wouldn’t hurt, right? (i will not mention tanisha, i will not mention tanisha, i will not mention tanisha — gad, why on earth is she still in a storm jersey?).

swin just fouled someone and we’re now down 2. and now the rookie beck just fouled some monarch again. anubuzz.

amfufu, down 5. swin just turned the ball over. oh come on, swin! team timeout.

what to do what to do what to do?! might head out to some park to play volleyball with laizee. and i’ll prolly take noodles with me so i can finally take a shot of those (oh wait, a gearlds three! yey!) flowers (or damong ligaw) along the road heading to the nagayama-eki.

argh, this game is just too long. i’m already hungry. 55-55. who scored? who scored? damn html play-by-play is not refreshing. oh, wait, two free-throws for beck.

amf. (sacto) tangela “pocahontas” smith fadeaway. lech. come on, swin, katie, yo, ANYONE! bawiiiiii! alright, swin scored a hook, but a monarch had a jump shot, swin had a layup, and the same frikkin’ monarch had a jump shot again. amfufu where’s your defense, storm? and what the bloody hell — pocahontas for another jump shot. grrrrr.

oh wait — why on earth am i live-blogging an exhibition game anyway?

2 more minutes and then hello lunch! gearlds missed a three, shyra ely rebounds and then turns the ball over. a cash turnover, a pocahontas steal, an a.rob foul. i can’t wait for this game to be over. i’m really hungry. and now we’re down 8. two lawson free throws. team timeout short.

#############

i’ll peel my butt off my chair for the meantime and will just update this entry when i see the score later. gotta scourge for food.

just a random (yeah, right, random) thought:

ano ba ang tamang sagot sa tanong na “ano ang wala?“?

[#]: anong meron?
[~]: wala.
[#]: anong ang wala?
[~]: hala, papano ba sasagutin yang tanong na yan?

#############

oh, waittaminute, we were down 8 and now we’re just down 2? woohoo @ beck for that three. 15 seconds left. why isn’t there no frikkin’ audio?!

down four on kara lawson’s free throws. are we dropping two games in a row? find out later.

kennedy for three! down one now. but oh no, beck fouled someone. please let not someone be kara lawson.

(why on earth am i so invested in a preseason game? because i will miss the opening game, that’s why! stupid check-up, stupid lungs.)

six seconds. down one.

beck fouls again. pocahontas misses the first ft but sinks the second. we’re down two. 4 frikkin’ seconds. i wanna eat naaaa!

oh. it’s over. 68-70.

whatever. let’s move on. the world is still turning.

#############

speaking of the world is still turning shit, i remember reading a thread in peyups.com and i picked this little nugget from there:

[+] axis ka ba?
[-] huh?
[+] kasi sa ‘yo umiikot ang mundo ko eh.

what the hell di ba? sarap batuhin ng sapatos — ay no, i will not insult my shoes that way. will find another object to throw na lang.

amfufu.

osha, (late) lunch na.
