Linda Linda Linda (リンダ リンダ リンダ, Linda Linda Linda?) is a 2005 Japanese film. Its name comes from Japanese punk band The Blue Hearts‘ hit song “Linda Linda“. The film was directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita and stars Aki Maeda, Yu Kashii, and Shiori Sekine as the band members, and Bae Doona as a South Korean foreign exchange student. The students’ band, Paran Maum (Korean for “The Blue Hearts”), released a CD single in Japan and Korea entitled We Are Paran Maum. [ Wikipedia ]

Here is a clip from the movie:

I’ve been on a funk (well, sort of) lately. I dunno why — can we just blame STRESS just like the old times? Work, work, work. Ugh. I haven’t been updating myself with the STORM, too. That’s almost blasphemous in my world. Tsk tsk tsk.

So, anyway, I still get to listen to games but without the proper attention that I used to bestow on my favorite team on earth. And it’s not helping that we’re sort of sucking on the road (thank goodness for the 9-1 Home record or else we’re toast). And it also sucks that the SpOrks are on top of the Western Conf (wait, lemme check … oh hell no, they still are on top boooo!). Oh well, at least we’re still above .500 and are sitting at 3rd.

The last game I listened to was against the New York Liberty this morning. LJ lit up for 33 points (wooohoooo LJ!) on 12-for-20 shooting, grabbed 5 boards, blocked 2 shots, and swiped one ball. Birdy also played awesomely. She scored a season-high 23 points and assisted 6 shots. Swin played another solid game, scoring 8 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Swoopes had 9 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds. Yo Griffith had 4 points, 7 boards, and 4 steals.

The Up-Sides:
– LJ’s offensive flow has returned.
– Team has more rebounds now.
– Sue — oh Sue, keep that killer offense going. Downright awesome.
– That killer pick-and-roll is just, well, a killer. Pick your poison – LJ or Sue? Tsk.

The Down-Side:
– OMG, the bench?! The bench is missing! (I didn’t concentrate enough on listening so I dunno if they brought some hustle on the court that’s not reflected on the score sheet though).

The Game:

Score: W 81 — 74

[22–14][29–24][15–11][18–22]

Player of the Game: F Lauren Jackson (12-20) 33 Pts, 7 Rebs, 0 Assists

Box Score

Recap

Others:

– The SpOrks lost wahahahaha. To Minny. Good on Seimone Augustus, Candice Wiggins, and company. Yay.

– We’re facing Minny next though. Uh oh. Haha. Oh well, go Storm!

– What the hell? No photos of the game on the Yahoo Sports gallery?! Weird.

Debounce!

debounce, kilcher~isms, switch

(1) Debounce (v) – To remove the small ripple of current that forms when a mechanical switch is pushed in an electrical circuit and makes a series of short contacts. [ Source ]

(2) Electrical contacts in mechanical pushbutton switches often make and break contact several times when the button is first pushed. A debouncing circuit removes the resulting ripple signal, and provides a clean transition at its output. [ Source ]

Switches can do some really odd things. Most engineers learn this dirty little secret soon after connecting a switch or a relay to a digital system. Switches don’t make and break cleanly on the time scales of digital systems. Instead, a typical switch makes multiple transitions during the tens of milliseconds required to open or close, due to effects that include age, operating inertia, mechanical design, and the microscopic condition of the switch-contact surfaces. Commonly called “switch bounce,” this behavior is an inescapable fact of life. [ Source ]

Now, those damn bounces can be easily taken care of using Software Debouncing (never mind the overvoltage spikes, electostatic discharge, and other transients). I remember we did this in CoE 115 (ya know, that subject that rendered me sleepless for many many nights) before. You have to introduce some sort of delay (say, a few milliseconds) before getting the voltage value of the switch. That way you’re sure if it’s the right value and not just some transient one.

Anyway, it’s like this: sometimes a switch is flipped or pressed in your head and a thought is suddenly there. That thought may be a temporary one (transient) or maybe it’s just an impulsive urge or whatever. Or maybe it’s the real thing — the one that infinitely loops inside your head and you forgot to put a “break;” statement in there somewhere so it’s there, just there, floating in your always-low-programmed-mind and it’s never-ending. The only way to make sure that that thought is real is to wait it out (for like 5 to 10 minutes — yeah, that works with me, coz I’m like fickle-minded as hell). Now, if that singular thought still lingers after a day (or a week, or a month, or God forbid — many many many months!), then maybe it’s the real value, maybe it’s The Real Deal.

Errrr, having said all that … sooooooo … … what now?

Hahaha. I say, DEBOUNCE, Kilcher, DEBOUNCE!

EXAMPLE DESU:

Sa train, papauwi:
[#] Parang gusto ko bumili ng desktop.
[~] Go.
[#] Pagkauwing-pagkauwi mag-customize na ko.
[~] Hay naku, dapat pagkatapos mo, orderin mo agad.
[~] Pag pinapatagal mo, di natutuloy eh.
[#] Eh sorry namaaaaaan. Fickle-minded. At saka maiksi ang attention span.

Pagkauwi ng bahay, nagcustomize na agad, hanggang sa antaas na ng presyong inabot:
[#] Naku, impulse ito.
[=] Hindi yan, bumili ka naaaa. Diablo 3 rin yan no.

After 15 minutes…
[#] Lumipas na ang urge.
[=] Bili ka naaaa.
[#] Di rin naman ako makakapag-Diablo 3. Wala akong oras.
[=] Magkakaron ka niyan ng oras.
[#] Hindi na muna siguro…

The next morning…
[=] Alam mo, makakamura ka kung mag-assemble na lang.
[#] Hmmmm…
(Pause)
[#] Oo nga ano …

Lumagpas na ng isang araw, iniisip ko pa rin. So what now?

Hahaha. I say, DEBOUNCE, Kilcher, DEBOUNCE!

PS — Marami pang examples, hindi lang yan. Meron pa ngang months na ang Δt no 🙂 Pero ayoko na isa-isahin kasi hindi ako matatapos for sure. Basta ang masasabi ko lang ay …

DEBOUNCE, KILCHER, DEBOUNCE!
