、EStorm Updates May 14 2008 、E/p>

(Because I’m not able to write lately, I’ll just flood this blog with Storm updates for the meantime hee)

– Through Jayda Evans, I read that rookie Daphanie Kennedy was cut today. No surprise there. I guess that brings us down to (omg, wait, I dunno how many slots are still open) Beck, Wright (prolly a lock — le sigh), O’Neill, Hodges, and Hodges-Lewis. Now I don’t care about O’Neill anymore but please, please, please, pretty please, KEEP KIMBERLY BECK!

– Birdy in the Hauz! No rest from the long flight and the highs of their Russian Finals but still unfazed. Ha!

– OMG, please don’t put T. Wright in the PG position. I hope Agler sees it better than Donovan did — WRIGHT IS NOT A POINT GUARD.

###############

I’m just 5 days into my Project 365 and I’m bored. Hahahaha. Oh well.

Waaaah — ang tagal mag-announce ng cuts. So anyway here’s my blah-blah-blah about the whole thing:

、ESURE-AS-HELL LOCKS 、E/p>

① Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird — ‘Nuff said. All hell will break loose if Seattle ever releases these two. Fresh off a successfull overseas season in Russia, LJ and Birdy should be back and ready in green before opening night.

② Swin Cash — She’s looking and playing great and is almost back to her pre-ACL days. I wasn’t really thrilled initially with the Storm signing her but I think Swin’s gonna be a big factor in days to come.

③ Sheryl Swoopes — I was initially awed when the Storm signed Swoopes. I mean, she is an All-Star, an Olympian, an All-Decade Team Member (wait — we had all those in Bird and Jackson). But Swoopes was also rumored to be retiring soon. And she’s got quite a number of minor injuries *every* game so far. But I think she’s also a great scoring threat and if she takes care of herself well enough (no major injuries please), she’s gonna be a huge part of the puzzle. Plus it doesn’t hurt to have a sort-of Assistant Coach in uniform.

④ Yolanda Griffith — Enough gas in the tank, I think. Without Janelle Burse (Jones Injury) this season, she’d have to be responsible for many minutes in the 5 spot. I’m not yet sure how Agler would rotate the players but with her, Swin, A.Rob, Kelly Santos, and of course LJ, our post is certainly not thin.

、EOF COURSE THEY’RE IN 、E/p>

① Katie Gearlds — KG might have been a bubble player for a while (I read about the “white on rice” thing that Agler told her several weeks ago) but judging from her performance in the Indiana Pre-Season Game, she’s definitely in.

② Ashley Robinson — Pretty solid on both ends of the court. Yo can certainly need a reliever like her for the 5 spot.

③ Shyra Ely — Huge improvement and great defense.

④ Kelly Santos — I’m not really familiar with her and I haven’t seen her play yet but I read some favorable feedback about her in SF.org so I guess she’s okay.

、EIN THE BUBBLE 、E/p>

① Tanisha Wright — Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get that she’s improved (heh) and whatever and her defense is good and her shot is good, too, but SHE IS NOT A POINT GUARD demmit! She’s prolly a decent SG/SF, at best.

② Kimberly Beck — Now, Beck is a Point Guard, albeit a traditional one (pass first, shoot second). There’s positive feedback about her all over sf.org and she’d be a solid back-up to Birdy. I hope Agler keeps her.

③ Daphanie Kennedy — Betty Lennox Jr., according to Scotts Game Report. Hahaha. Okay, we all know I’m not really partial to Betty. I think Kennedy’s out.

④ Kristen O’Neill — I’m not really sure. Is she competing with Gearlds for the same spot? She’s scrappy, she’s got great baller IQ, but with KG’s performance, it doesn’t look good for this UW stand-out. I wish Agler would keep her though.

⑤ Hodges Twins — I don’t even want to elaborate. They’re experienced but I’m not really comfortable with them in Storm uniforms and they haven’t shown any impact in the games. I hope Agler doesn’t stick with the vets and chuck these two out.

MY PICKS => Beck, one of the twins, and Wright (I knoooowwww … tssss … basta di siya back-up PG ah!) I want O’Neill in too, but I’d be very happy if Agler keeps at least one rookie. Come on, masyado na geriatric ang Storm!

As expected LJ led the charge with 30 (on 8 of 10) and 5 boards. Birdy who was perfect from the field with 13 pts. Benchies Tatiana Schegoleva added 20 points and Tina Thompson 19.

This win makes it a Double-Championship Season for Spartak. They also won the Euroleague Championships earlier this season.

[Golden Week 2008] Lazy Saturday

basketball, golden week, sacramento monarchs, seattle storm, storm, WNBA

this is just an attempt to wade through the sabaw that’s currently occupying the space in my cranium. oic while my brain is vacationing somewhere.

it’s a very lazy saturday — start of the much awaited golden week, actually. no jap class because our rakista pasyonista lola sensei is off to god-only-knows-where and no tennis-slash-whatever thing because the weather got screwy. i don’t have any back-up plans. tssss.

i have nothing to do. and no one to talk to. well, scratch that out, there are people everywhere but i just wanna keep to myself for a while and mull over some thoughts (after-shock from last night, i guess).

alright, so i’m actually following a storm pre-season game in sacto now but there’s no audio and it’s really hard to get yourself into the game if you’re just watching the scoreboard and the play-by-play. plus birdy and lj aren’t yet around and *ugh* i’m just so lethargic this morning.

wait, omfg, why is sacto leading? grrr. we were on top just a few seconds ago.

i didn’t see swoopes in the line-up. she’s not playing, i guess. swin’s been in there a time or two. k.gearlds, come on, show us that smooth shot. yoyoyo griffith, cool, you just tied the frikkin’ game. now, i know that brian agler doesn’t care about winning just yet and he’s trying out combinations blah blah blah but wouldn’t it be nice to see a WIN this early? and yeah yeah yeah, i get that sue and lauren aren’t still around, as well as jb, but hey, a little enthusiasm wouldn’t hurt, right? (i will not mention tanisha, i will not mention tanisha, i will not mention tanisha — gad, why on earth is she still in a storm jersey?).

swin just fouled someone and we’re now down 2. and now the rookie beck just fouled some monarch again. anubuzz.

amfufu, down 5. swin just turned the ball over. oh come on, swin! team timeout.

what to do what to do what to do?! might head out to some park to play volleyball with laizee. and i’ll prolly take noodles with me so i can finally take a shot of those (oh wait, a gearlds three! yey!) flowers (or damong ligaw) along the road heading to the nagayama-eki.

argh, this game is just too long. i’m already hungry. 55-55. who scored? who scored? damn html play-by-play is not refreshing. oh, wait, two free-throws for beck.

amf. (sacto) tangela “pocahontas” smith fadeaway. lech. come on, swin, katie, yo, ANYONE! bawiiiiii! alright, swin scored a hook, but a monarch had a jump shot, swin had a layup, and the same frikkin’ monarch had a jump shot again. amfufu where’s your defense, storm? and what the bloody hell — pocahontas for another jump shot. grrrrr.

oh wait — why on earth am i live-blogging an exhibition game anyway?

2 more minutes and then hello lunch! gearlds missed a three, shyra ely rebounds and then turns the ball over. a cash turnover, a pocahontas steal, an a.rob foul. i can’t wait for this game to be over. i’m really hungry. and now we’re down 8. two lawson free throws. team timeout short.

#############

i’ll peel my butt off my chair for the meantime and will just update this entry when i see the score later. gotta scourge for food.

just a random (yeah, right, random) thought:

ano ba ang tamang sagot sa tanong na “ano ang wala?“?

[#]: anong meron?
[~]: wala.
[#]: anong ang wala?
[~]: hala, papano ba sasagutin yang tanong na yan?

#############

oh, waittaminute, we were down 8 and now we’re just down 2? woohoo @ beck for that three. 15 seconds left. why isn’t there no frikkin’ audio?!

down four on kara lawson’s free throws. are we dropping two games in a row? find out later.

kennedy for three! down one now. but oh no, beck fouled someone. please let not someone be kara lawson.

(why on earth am i so invested in a preseason game? because i will miss the opening game, that’s why! stupid check-up, stupid lungs.)

six seconds. down one.

beck fouls again. pocahontas misses the first ft but sinks the second. we’re down two. 4 frikkin’ seconds. i wanna eat naaaa!

oh. it’s over. 68-70.

whatever. let’s move on. the world is still turning.

#############

speaking of the world is still turning shit, i remember reading a thread in peyups.com and i picked this little nugget from there:

[+] axis ka ba?
[-] huh?
[+] kasi sa ‘yo umiikot ang mundo ko eh.

what the hell di ba? sarap batuhin ng sapatos — ay no, i will not insult my shoes that way. will find another object to throw na lang.

amfufu.

osha, (late) lunch na.

FINAL FOUR!

I literally couldn’t breathe when I was listening to the game. The first half was just plain ugly. It sounded like a nightmare for the backcourt. And Maya Moore was nowhere. And Monty was bricking shots. And turnovers were piling up. And Swanier’s speed was working against her. And they were rushing shots.

But thank God for those FREE THROWS. And Charde Houston. And my favorite college backcourt (after Bird and Taurasi) for working so well during the 2nd half. And Maya Moore for that AWESOME THREE! Wooohooooo!

And now, Greensboro Regional Champs. Wahaha. And a date with Stanford in the Final Four.

Final Four Final Four Final Four

– Tennessee Lady Vols versus Louisiana State U Lady Tigers

– UConn Huskies versus Stanford Cardinals

I’m back in the game! Yehey!

March Madness Na!

I decided to just put up a mini-update area at the upper-left part of this blog coz I haven’t mustered enough gana to post about basketball (something’s really wrong with me). And the past two UConn games have been hohumm so far. Errr, no, I’m not asking for a super-down-the-wire and heart-stopping game but please, a little more excitement naman.

############

Fabulous Freshman Maya Moore is just awesome as always. 17Pts-8Rebs-3Asts-1Blk during the Cornell game and 24-and-12 on 10 for 15 shooting, 4 of 6 from downtown during the game against the Texas Longhorns.

Montgomery, Charles, and everybody else — wooohooo!

McLaren is a pretty sweet passer for a post player.

Charde Houston continues to perform since she was named Big East Tourney Player of the Year (or MVP, whatever).

############

OMG, I’m so excited na sa WNBA. Bball time! Woohoo! Ang saya naman kasi ng Bird – Swoopes – Cash – Jackson na team no!

############

And oh — another OMG. Sana tumuloy-tuloy na ang Huskies to the Final Four and beyoooooooond!

Fishhack found a link to one of the Spartak-Dynamo games this season. Anyone craving for some awesome WBB action, hop on to this page and enjoy the streaming vid.

But of course, me and my ever reliable google powers figured out how to download the whole thing. So if anyone’s interested, I have a 300MB file sitting inside my HD at home. Or maybe I can just tell you how to download streaming vids off the net. Or maybe you can just google it. Hee.
