Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺, Kinkaku-ji Golden Pavilion Temple) is the informal name of Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺, Deer Garden Temple) in Kyoto, Japan. It was originally built in 1397 to serve as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, as part of his estate then known as Kitayama.[1] It was his son who converted the building into a Zen temple of the Rinzai school. The temple was burned down twice during the Ōnin War.

From the west to the east
I have flown to be near you
I have come all this way
to be close, to be here with you

And now all my heart
I will lay down precisely at your feet…

…

I am yours, I am yours,
for as long as you will have me …

Keepers' Union

i'm a keeper

The first time I played Futsal (ya know, the indoor version of Football/Soccer), I immediately tried my hand at being the Keeper (goalkeeper, not the Keeper of the Underworld — Sword of Truth series, you wait, alright, Imma finish your Goddarn last installment in the next hundred years).

Anyway, I have more respect for Keepers all over the world because it’s frakking hard to be one. Imagine being the last point (not even a line, sheesh) of defense and you gotta bail out your team by not letting the opponents’ kicks convert into goals. The pressure is ginormous, I know, but heck, it’s boring if the ball just stays at the midfield.So I also want to run around the field like a headless chicken but still play defense. So I guess, I’ll just play Keeper when I run out of breath or something (damn you, stupid lungs). Until then, I’ll be part of the defensive line.

(All of these nonstop and rubbish ramblings only serve to point out that I’ve always liked playing defense more than offense — in almost, if not all, of the sports that I tried playing, and in almost, if not all, of the aspects of my life.)

~~~~~~~~~~
PS — Inferness, ang sakit pala sa pagkatao maging Keeper. Literally and figuratively (bahala na kayo kung alin sa mga multiple meanings ang gusto niyo isipin — most prolly tama yan lahat, hee). Anyhoo, kaya nga pala sila may gloves ano — para kapag binlock mo using your hand yung bola, hindi masyado masakit. Amfufu.
5 Centimeters Per Second (秒速5センチメートル, Byōsoku Go Senchimētoru?), subtitled “a chain of short stories about their distance.” is a 2007 Japanese animated feature film by Makoto Shinkai. The film was finished on January 22, 2007. The first part of the film was debuted on Yahoo! Japan as streaming video to Yahoo! Premium members from 16 February to 19 February 2007. On March 3, 2007, the full length featured film had its theatrical premiere at Cinema Rise in Shibuya, Tokyo. The film consists of three segments: ŌkashŁE/em> (桜花抁E, Cosmonaut (コスモナウチE, and Byōsoku 5 Senchimētoru (秒送Eセンチメートル), totaling about an hour of runtime. As in Shinkai’s previous works, Tenmon composes for this film’s soundtrack. The DVD was released on 19 July 2007.
Makoto Shinkai had expressed that, unlike his past works, there would be no fantasy or science fiction elements in this film. Instead, the feature film would attempt to present the real world from a different perspective. Makoto’s film gives a realistic view of the struggles many face against: time, space, people, and love. The title 5 Centimeters Per Second comes from the speed at which cherry blossoms petals fall, petals being a metaphorical representation of humans, reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together but slowly drift into their separate ways.[1]
Natsu-Yasumi
Natsu-Yasumi (夏休み) – summer break.
The one-week-break is almost over. I’m not sure if I actually took advantage of it though.  But what the hell, kanya-kanyang topak na lang yan. Here’s the play-by-play of what I did during those wake-up-at-noon days:
July 27, 2008 – Sunday
Watched Veronica Mars before going to the company annual dinner.
July 28, 2008 – Monday
Stayed at home with Veronica Mars and just basically bummed around.
July 29, 2008 – Tuesday
Had this mini-Wii-Party at Guia and Jac’s place. Had fun with the Wii and the non-stop laughing and the  good old asaran and of course, Ish’s drink of the moment — Cassis Orange. Didn’t sleep the whole night because of all that.
July 30, 2008 – Wednesday
Because I got home at around 6am and I didn’t sleep the previous night, I was knocked out most of the day. The entire time I was awake though, I cleaned my room. Yes, really.
July 31, 2008 – Thursday
if (sweldo.Exist()==TRUE) {
GoTo(Fuchu);
Eat(Kare-Kare);
GoHome();
}
August 1, 2008 – Friday
Went to the Immigration Office in Shin-Yurigaoka with Ish-chan, Vanush, and Benny for our re-entry permits. Dragged Ish to Machida to buy the airbeds. Wooooo! Now I can sleep a little better.
NyorNyor-Hodai with Absinthe and the NyorNyor Gang @ Bubaigawara. Shet, sabog na sabog. Haha, well … di pa naman, pero malapit na. Tumigil lang talaga ako.
August 2, 2008 – Saturday
Haberday, Nikki Noodles!
Beaching experience with bitchin’ hangover at Kuganuma-Kaigan. Ampanget ng beach, pero beach pa rin yun. Went to Guia and Jac’s after for Jac’s birthday celeb party. Absinthe plus Chu-hi naman ngayon. Basag na naman.
August 3, 2008 – Sunday
Malamang lang sa hindi tulog ako buong araw. 6am na ko umuwi eh.
Waaaaaah! Tapos na natsu-yasumi. May pasok na bukas. *Sobs* Pero di bale, may Obon-Yasumi pa next week, yeaaaaah!
Hello? Hello?
Are you there?
Hello?
I just have this one silly question.
What’s taking you so long?
Really — what?
———————-
This is just me losing my touch. I can’t seem to write my usual crap nowadays. Oh well, whatever. As if that bothers me :p
PS — Still on my Veronica Mars Season 1 Marathon. San-san (my Sansa E270 player) conked out in the middle of Episode 17 earlier. Bummer.
PPS — Strong quake last night (it is now early morning, you know), magnitude 6.8 that lasted more than 20 seconds. I was shaking in my, uh, room socks.
PPPS — Brawl in The Palace of Auburn Hills. Haven’t watched the vid yet (Veronica Mars muna hehe) but I read that Candace Parker and Delisha Milton-Jones of the L.A. SpOrks and Plenette Pierson and Asst. Coach Rick Mahorn of the Detroit Thugs -este- Shock were ejected. Nasty. The league does not need things like this.
“This platform is made of cement. I wonder how it would actually feel if you fell face-flat on it — from, say, about 100 meters above ground level.”
I can’t compute the Vf right now but if this stays in my mind, I might just solve it when I reach the office.
— o —-
“Here comes the 926. Is this car gonna be near the stairs at Shin-Yurigaoka? I should have known this a long time ago but I just really have no idea.”
— o —-
“Doors … closing doors … opening doors … knocking on doors … answering the knocks on doors …”
I’ve started reading “Neverwhere” by Neil Gaiman and I hope I’ll finish it so I’d have something more concrete to say about Doors. It’s a promising story though so I SHOULD really read it. Blah, I said that about The Hours and look at me now — not even halfway through the blasted thing.
“Events are cowards. They do not occur singly … instead they would run in packs and leap at you all at once.”
[EXT. HOTEL MONACO – FRONT SIDEWALK – DAY — CONTINUOUS]
(Standing down below on the sidewalk in front of the Hotel Monaco, GRISSOM looks up at the roof and speaks into the walkie-talkie. Behind him, a large crowd of spectators gather just beyond the crime scene tape.)
GIL GRISSOM: (to radio) All right, Nick, standing by for Operation Norman. Let him fly.
(The first crash dummy “body” flies off of the rooftop and crashes to the
sidewalk in front of GRISSOM with a thud.)
SPECTATOR (MALE): Oh!
(The large crowd of spectators applaud. GRISSOM looks up and around at them, surprised by their reaction.)
(The second crash dummy flies off of the rooftop and onto the sidewalk below. The crowd cheers.)
(The third and final crash dummy flies off of the rooftop and lands with a thud. The crowd applauds.)
(GRISSOM raises his hand and acknowledges them as he walks toward the dummies.)
GIL GRISSOM: Yes, yes.
(GRISSOM raises his camera.)
GIL GRISSOM: Norman “pushed”.
(He takes pictures of the dummy. He turns to snap photos of the second dummy.)
GIL GRISSOM: Norman “jumped”.
(GRISSOM takes pictures of the third dummy.)
GIL GRISSOM: Norman “fell”.
SARA SIDLE: (o.s.) Wouldn’t you if you were married to Mrs. Roper?
(At the sound of her voice, GRISSOM puts the camera down. Behind him, SARA puts her bag down on the ground, a huge grin on her face.)
GIL GRISSOM: I don’t even have to turn around. Sara Sidle.
SARA SIDLE: That’s me. Still tossing simulation dummies? There are other ways to tell, you know?
GIL GRISSOM: How? Computer simulation? No thanks. I’m a scientist I like to see it. Newton dropped the apple, I drop dummies.
SARA SIDLE: You’re old school.
GIL GRISSOM: Exactly. And this guy was pushed.
Season 1.
Episode 2.
“Cool Changes”.
It’s actually the first time Sara Sidle appears in CSI.
— o —-
Kaito Nakamura. Lying on the ground. Bloodied after a hooded someone ran at him and they fell off the rooftop ledge together.
Heroes. Season 2. Episode 1.
— o —-
“What are you doing?”
“Something unexpected.”
– Claude, Peter (Heroes Season 1, Episode 16, “Unexpected”)
— o —-
“When we embrace what lies within, our potential has no limit. The future is filled with promise; the present rife with expectation. When we deny our instinct, and struggle against our deepest urges, uncertainty begins. Where does this path lead? When will the changes end? Is this transformation a gift or a curse? For those who fear what lies ahead, the most important question of all: Can we ever really change what we are?”
– Heroes Season 1 Episode 13 “The Fix”
— o —-
“You threw me off of a thirty story building! If I didn’t regenerate, I’d be dead!”
“You could’ve flown! Listen, if you hadn’t worked this one out, you’d’ve been hopeless anyway. And I’d have defused the biggest bomb ever.”
– Peter, Claude
Season 1 Episode 14 “Distractions”
— o —-
Figurative toss coin.
Heads — I’ll continue reading Gaiman.
Tails — I’ll succumb to the call of Morpheus.
Flip.
Tails.
Oh well. I hope someone (Ish? Just?) wakes me up in Shin-Yokohama.
— o —-
“Shin-Yokohama desu … Shin-Yokohama desu …”
I wake.
Oh crap, is it Shin-Yoko already?
Ugh.
Linda Linda Linda (リンダ リンダ リンダ, Linda Linda Linda?) is a 2005 Japanese film. Its name comes from Japanese punk band The Blue Hearts‘ hit song “Linda Linda“. The film was directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita and stars Aki Maeda, Yu Kashii, and Shiori Sekine as the band members, and Bae Doona as a South Korean foreign exchange student. The students’ band, Paran Maum (Korean for “The Blue Hearts”), released a CD single in Japan and Korea entitled We Are Paran Maum. [ Wikipedia ]
Oh you are in my blood like holy wine
And you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I’d be on my feet
I’d still be on my feet
Joni Mitchell | A Case of You
—————–
I’ve heard this song before but sort of forgot about it (just like every single thing actually, nothing ever stays in my mind anymore, you see). And then Madam brought it up again during the mini-jam-session last Friday and well, can I just say that Joni Mitchell is frikkin’ awesome?
Mula sa twitter page ko:
alec: i can’t understand the world…………..
tinats: @alec sinabi mo pa!
meemax: @alec naku wag mong dagdagan ang masalimuot na mundo ni tinats. ang mundong walang conflict pero nagkakaconflict. wahahahah. peace!
tinats: @meemax @alec out of nowhere sumusulpot ang virtual conflict. kelangan pa i-cast. (huwaaat?!) amfufung memory prob to (huwaaat?!)
———————–
I just really don’t get the world sometimes — well, no, scratch that out, make that almost all the time. My head’s gonna burst due to all the things that I don’t wanna think about but I kinda have to since they’re all here anyway.
Haaaaay, world, you sneaky sneaky you. You really like to throw curve balls at me, don’t you? Tsk. You keep doing that but I still don’t know whether to get out of the way or hit those pitches like there’s no tomorrow. I’m sorry but it takes a while for me to figure things out and see which is which. Your curve balls shatter the order of my universe and I’m left confused and discombobulated for days (or weeks or months). Ugh. What on earth — I don’t even play baseball! I should stop using these analogies and stick to those geeky ones. Bahala na lang kayong mandiri sa ka-nerdox-han na yan.
But anyway, see the thing is, life (and this blasted world and this frikkin’ universe) hurls into you some unexpected and out of the blue happenings that are of the omfg-san-galing-yun and wth-ano-na-ang-nangyayari variety. Hay, not all people can go with the flow or adapt to those unexpected things. I’m one of those people who are just plain useless in that area.
Argh. I don’t want to think about this because I don’t really need to think about this and my head is hurting like hell from all the lack of sleep and the chu-hi(gh) that I’ve chugged this past week and all the thinking that I’ve been doing about THIS.
Demmit.
———————–
I’m very fond of puns. And earlier, in the train ride from Keio-Nagayama to Shinjuku, I realized that there’s something really really really clever about this thing that’s been in my head for quite some time now (I know, it’s an anomaly coz normally, nothing is stored inside this useless brain — stupid memory, I blame you). Hahaha. OMG astig lang haha. Oh the fun with double (triple, quadruple, quintuple … n-tuple) meanings. Hee.
———————–
Remember my wawents ode to Shinjuku-Eki? If not, refresher here.
So yun. I went to Shinjuku yesterday to meet up with Meemax and go lens-window-shopping (na palpak desu, bigo ang Kilcher ahuhuhu). Argh~ness ever, I got lost again — and twice pa! Pinakamalala when I was trying to find the Keio West Gate so I could take the Express Train to Hashimoto. I found myself wandering aimlessly at the JR-sen East Gate and I was really dizzy what with lack of sleep and those damn chu-hi(gh)s last night! Buti na lang I entered the JR gate and voila, I found myself at the place that I was trying to find.
My gash. Shinjuku-Eki na kaya ang pinakamalaking challenge ng buhay ko? Hahaha. That or baka ang paghihintay kay “ikaw” na hanggang ngayon wala pa din? Hahaha ulit. Can’t decide — pareho lang ng level of difficulty yan eh. Tsk.
———————–
Kilcher: Inaantok na ako.
Doppleganger: Kelan ba hindi?
Kilcher: At masakit na ang ulo ko.
Doppleganger: Yan ba ang missing link dun sa linya mong “ang dami kong gagawin, nasusuka ako”?
Kilcher: I think I need to sleep.
Doppleganger: You shouldn’t think. You should know.
Kilcher: Wala na kasi sense tong pinagsasabi ko.
Doppleganger: Kailan ka ba nagkaron ng sense, aber?
Kilcher: Tse. Buzet.
Asar tong si Doppleganger ah. Mas kilala pa niya ko kesa sa sarili ko. Gash.
Commercial Desu Kedooooo ….
STORM DOUSED THE FEVER this morning. Hay, finally, a win. And Birdy played awesome, yeah yeah yeah! Pero weirdly enough, our three-game-skid this past week wasn’t enough to bring down my spirits. Ang weird ng pakiramdam, parang may sanib lang. Ewan ko na lang kung ano to and I ain’t wasting any brain cells trying to wade through the muddy and murky waters of uncertainty and whatever else — ah basta. Ewan ewaaaan ewaaaaaaaaaaaaan, kanta na lang tayo ng mga kanta ni Marie Digby. Yebbers!
———————–
Okay, hontou ni bangag da yo. I should sleep bago pa dumami ang sahog nitong word salad ko.
Ijou desu.
